Christmas is finally here, and cheerful events are happening throughout the area. Whether you’d like to take in a yuletide musical performance, marvel at dazzling holiday lights, or get in some last-minute shopping, DART has you covered.  Friday, Dec. 22  Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings their one-of-a-kind Christmas show to American Airlines Center. This year’s show, “Ghosts of Christmas Eve,” is a celebration of the beloved group's late creator and songwriter, Paul O'Neill. There are two shows, one at 3:30 p.m. and one at 8 p.m. The AAC is served by Victory Station.  This also would be a great evening to check out Holiday Wonder, a new, unforgettable, family-friendly event in Fair Park. The outdoor, walk-through winter wonderland features magical light displays, including holiday-themed Chinese lanterns. There’s a host of other attractions as well: the two-story Santa's Arctic Slide, snowball throwing, music, dance and a world class acrobatics show. The event continues through January 7. Get there by taking the Green Line to Fair Park Station.  The Dallas Zoo also has a brand-new holiday event, Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant. After the animals head in for the evening, the zoo grounds are transformed by a million twinkling lights. The spectacular display is free with regular zoo admission – so you can visit the zoo during the day and stay for the holiday celebration, or come just for the festivities. If you can’t make it today, you’ll have the chance to catch it through January 2. The zoo has its own DART Rail stop, Dallas Zoo Station. Saturday, Dec. 23 You won’t get another chance to visit Holly Jolly Holidays at Reunion Tower – not this year, at least, as Dec. 23 is the last day. Check out the GeO-Deck observation area for some of the best views in Dallas, and take photos with Santa, enjoy a kid’ craft – and even visit with some cute critters from the Dallas Zoo, all at 470 feet in the air. You also can nosh on tasty treats from Cloud Nine Café. You can get to Reunion Tower via pedestrian tunnel from Union Station. This is the last night of the Company of Rowlett Performers’ three-night run of their take on the classic musical Annie. Dubbed Annie, Jr., the show follows the title character as she tries to find the parents who abandoned her – and foils the evil schemes of Miss Hannigan, who runs the orphanage where she lives. Along the way, she is aided by Daddy Warbucks, and the audience is treated to some of the most enduring song in musical theater. The performance take place at the Plaza Theatre in Garland, a short walk from Downtown Garland Station. Sunday, Dec. 24 If you’ve never seen the Trains at NorthPark, you’re in for a treat. There are more model trains than you can imagine. The trains travel over 1,600 feet of track and stop by a fascinating itinerary of locations such as the Golden Gate Bridge, New York City and, of course, Dallas. DART has a shuttle to NorthPark Center (Route 702) that departs frequently from Park Lane Station.
