Christmas is just a few days away. This weekend, there are DARTable options to put you in the spirit. Take a magical trolley ride, thrill to circus stunts or let holiday lights dazzle you. Read on for more, and season’s best from DART to your family.

Friday, Dec. 20

The 4th Annual McKinney Avenue M-Line Trolley Holiday Express travels through the heart of Uptown Dallas and into the Downtown Arts District. It’s the perfect way to experience the sights and sounds of the holidays in the big city. In addition to tonight, the special trolley rides happen on Sunday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 23. Each day has two departures, at 6 and 7:30 p.m., and lasts an hour. The rides depart and finish at Cityplace/Uptown Station, on the Red, Blue and Orange lines. Just take the west portal exit; the M-Line turntable is right outside the doors.

Saturday, Dec. 21

Holiday Marketplace is perfect for getting last-minute gifts that won’t seem obligatory. You’ll find more than 25 vendors selling handmade wares at The Grove @ Mustang Crossing, right down the street from the Green Line’s Farmers Branch Station. There are concessions, live music and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Christmas on the Square is in full swing in Downtown Garland, with thousands of lights and mom-and-pop shops. Enjoy music, hot chocolate and other seasonal delights. The square is just a few blocks from Downtown Garland Station on the Green Line.

Dallas Zoo Lights has a million lights that bring the grounds to life, plus dozens of animal-shaped light sculptures and lanterns. Catch the beautiful display on select evenings through Jan. 5. Dallas Zoo Station on the Red Line puts you right there.

Sunday, Dec. 22

The Wizard of Oz: The Holiday Family Concert is a magical concert of the well-known story. Today’s matinee is your last chance to catch it. As Dorothy dreams of escaping her mundane life in Kansas, a twister hits the farm and transports her and Toto to Oz. There, we encounter the familiar perils and cast of characters. The play/concert is at The Firehouse Theatre, right across the street from the Green Line’s Farmers Branch Station.

Cirque Holidays is a unique show that also ends after today’s performance. Through a blend of theater and the circus arts, the show celebrates holidays around the world. Showcasing both international and local circus talent, the performance is full of death-defying stunts, amazing feats and, of course, entertaining clowns. The performance by Lone Star Circus is at the WaterTower Theatre, a short walk from Addison Transit Center on numerous bus routes.
