We’ve got Asian films, a French festival and British theater all going on this weekend – and, of course, it’s DARTable. Take a look:

Friday, July 14

The 16th Annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas is in full swing all weekend at the Angelika Film Center. It will continue through July 20. The festival is dedicated to celebrating and supporting emerging and established Asian and Asian-American filmmakers and sharing the rich diversity of Asian culture through the medium of cinema. Many of these films cannot be seen on the big screen outside of their countries of origin. Today’s screenings include shorts, as well as The Soul of the TigerA Single RiderDawn of the Felines and many more. The Angelika is at Mockingbird Station. Saturday, July 15

Summer Reading and Art in the Plaza continues for its last Saturday of the year, from 10-11 a.m. near the "Over the Moon" sculpture at CityLine. The free program is geared toward families with children ages 8 and under, and will features a reading of We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio, followed by a creative project supporting this week's theme – You, Me, We: Appreciation.  CityLine is next to Bush Turnpike Station.

Go Oak Cliff's 8th annual Bastille on Bishop happens from 6-11 p.m. in the Bishop Arts District. Bastille on Bishop is a family-friendly festival celebrating the festive French liberation day with French wine, food, music, and markets. Costumes are welcome – break out your stripes and beret! The event is free, but if you want to drink wine, you should hit their website and reserve a wine glass. Get to Bishop Arts via the Dallas Streetcar.

Sunday, July 16

The Marketplace Garland features fresh produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, sweet breads, culinary items, unique items from local artisans and craftsmen, and more. For those interested, donated items of canned and boxed food items will be accepted at the Good Samaritans of Garland booth. This event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the heart of Garland's historic downtown square – a short walk from Downtown Garland Station.

It’s the last performance of Simon Williams’ Nobody's Perfect, being presented by Theatre Britain at the Cox Building Playhouse in downtown Plano Shy and staid statistician Leonard is anxious to break into print and sends book after book to Love Is All Around, a publisher dedicated to writing “for women by women.” His efforts are rejected until he submits a novel, based on his experiences as a single parent, under the pseudonym Myrtle Banbury. When his novel is accepted, Leonard has no choice but to assume Myrtle's identity! The theater is a short walk from Downtown Plano Station.
