There are plenty of DARTable events going on this weekend. Here are some suggestions:

Saturday, May 13

The Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, a nonprofit organization, has an annual 5K Run that kicks off at Anderson Bonner Park. It’s not a very long walk from Forest Lane Station on the Red Line, but Bus Routes 486 and 488 will get you the rest of the way, too. Registration is required.

TITAS’ Command Performance is an annual show that’s eagerly anticipated by local dance aficionados. For good reason, too: Dancers come from revered companies from around the globe to perform work by world-famous choreographers. It happens at the Winspear Opera House, a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station.

The Homegrown Festival is happening at Main Street Garden, and this year it’s a doozy – featuring local legends Tripping Daisy, who are reuniting for the band’s first show this century. The rest of the all-Texas lineup is great, too (White Denim is one standout), as should be the weather. Take any of DART Rail’s four lines to St. Paul Station, and walk three blocks south.

Sunday, May 14

The Dallas Museum of Art hosts a film series, The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, where it will screen “Distinto Amanecer.” Preceding the screening, there will be a talk about gender and identity in Mexican movies. The DMA is a short walk from St. Paul Station.
