North Texas has a thriving nightlife scene, from jazz clubs and trendy bars with live music to world-class mainstage shows and musical parodies. The best part: many of these popular spots are DARTable. Check out these DARTable hots pots. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts From Broadway musicals to concerts to ballet, this much-acclaimed performing arts center presents about 450 events a year. With such a diverse range of affordable entertainment options like the Spotlight Artists concert series – as well as world-class mainstage shows and even an art gallery – this gem is sure to present an experience you’ll love. Red Line to Galatyn Park Station Granville Arts Center Named for long-time director Patty Granville, this facility is the heart of Garland’s culture and arts center. When it opened in 1982, the complex sparked a flourishing of the arts in Garland. Since then, it has grown to include three theaters, two event spaces, and a movie theater. They host dozens of events each year including musicals, plays, concerts, dances, arts shows, and free movies. Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station Opening Bell Coffee For a taste of a Greenwich Village coffee house with a touch of Wall Street, there’s Opening Bell Coffee in the basement of Southside on Lamar, the historic Sears building converted to residential lofts. Besides delicious cups of fair trade coffee and espresso, they have a full menu and weekly open mic nights, and they’re located in the vibrant Cedars neighborhood. Red or Blue lines to Cedar Station Sandaga 813 The spirit of Miles Davis and John Coltrane lives at Sandaga 813, one of funky Exposition Park’s hidden gems. This laid-back lounge has garnered a serious reputation for world-class jazz. The house band has weekly jam sessions open to any musician, and lots of national acts give surprise performances here before their big shows. Depending on the night of the week, you can also catch some hip hop, R&B – even some barbecue, with a little luck. Green Line to Fair Park Station The Rustic Local, authentic, and made-from-scratch are the order of the day at The Rustic. From small bites and salads to savory steaks sourced from local ranchers, the food is always fresh and delicious. Look for local craft beers, wines and spirits, as well. Not to mention talent: The cozy “backyard” features live music most nights, much of it from local up-and-comers. Red, Blue or Orange lines to Cityplace/Uptown Station (west portal) Vickery Park With an extensive menu and a huge selection of craft beers in a prime historic location in Plano, the good folks at Vickery are keeping it real with the friendly vibe of a neighborhood bar and grill. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for happy hour to enjoy the upscale pub fare. Red Line to Downtown Plano Station Water Tower Theatre Tucked in among picturesque trees, WaterTower Theatre is a force of nature offering highly regarded shows featuring first-rate talent. The award-winning company’s mission is to examine humanity from different perspectives using the intensity and insight of live theatre.
