Meeting North Texas' Growing Transit Needs

As we look forward to What’s Next in North Texas, we want to take a closer look at how DART is bringing together a range of different types of transit to form a flexible, multi-modal system that will support the region’s ongoing growth. DART’s new, more fluid approach to transit means that North Texans no longer have to try to fit their lives into the confines of a limited and rigid schedule. Instead, DART is giving you more options and putting you in control of your mobility choices. A New Approach to Transit This new approach starts with the idea of making transit work for all North Texans—even those who do not ride. This means bringing together:
  • DART’s traditional public transit services (such as buses, trains and light rail)
  • Ridesharing
  • Carsharing
  • Bike-sharing
  • Electric scooters
  • Taxis
As well as ways to get around in the future. Air taxis, anyone? And in today’s on-demand culture, we’re seamlessly integrating mobility into your daily life, with tools like the GoPass app, which helps you get where you’re going in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

The Best Part? It’s Already Happening

DART recently announced that it has expanded its partnership with Uber, providing North Texans even more options for their transportation needs. You can now book an UberPool shared ride in any of DART's 13 GoLink zones using the DART GoPass app, or use a GoLink shuttle, a personalized, on-demand, curb-to-curb service, getting you where you need to go, when you need to get there – whether you’re running errands, heading to the office or connecting to DART trains and buses.

More Options, More Flexibility

These and other offerings play a critical role in first or last-mile transportation, linking public transit users who may not live within walking distance of a station or stop, to their final destinations.

With these additions, DART can reach more people and provide more flexibility than ever before. Incorporating these additional modes of transit into the broader DART network also allows us to deliver a solution that works for North Texas now and into the future.

North Texas continues to grow at a rapid pace and shows no signs of slowing down. But while the region continues to grow, DART remains as committed as ever to driving economic development, expanding opportunity, supporting future growth and providing cultural benefits to the region’s residents, visitors and commuters alike.
