Student’s ‘DART to Discovery’ Artwork on Display at Dallas Love Field

kids-art-work-love-field-5 The Dallas Love Field Airport is more than a place to embark on new destinations, it’s also an exhibit hall where visitors can learn how children “DART to Discovery.” Panels along the corridor leading to baggage claim display 100 original pieces of artwork from K-12 students who entered DART’s Annual Student Art Contest. Students created illustrative ways to depict this year’s theme, DART to Discovery. All of the artwork is unique and reflects the aspiring artists’ perspective on DART. Kassandra Castañeda, a fourth grader from Frank Guzick Elementary in Dallas ISD, won best of show in the competition, which received more than 2,300 contestants. In addition to a $1,000 cash prize, Castañeda’s artwork displayed exclusively on select DART buses. The exhibit has been up since July, and the airport estimates that more than 600,000 visitors have passed by the display. To view some of the artwork, check out this interactive gallery:
