Happy Fourth of July weekend! The forecast calls for it to be “only” in the mid-90s, which shouldn’t be too daunting to hardy North Texans. On Monday, there’s Addison Kaboom Town, one of our region’s premier Independence Day celebrations, with an amazing air show and a spectacular fireworks show – plus an award-winning festival at Addison Circle Park. There are many other DARTable Fourth celebrations, as well.

Friday, June 30

National Food Truck Day is a thing, and – fittingly – there will be a celebration at Klyde Warren Park. The event includes an array of activities, as well as summer fun in the Nancy Best Fountain and recently enhanced Children's Park. The park is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, and it’s right along the M-Line Trolley’s route.

TLC and Shaggy bring decades of hits to Irving. They're joined by En Vogue and Sean Kingston on what they’re calling their “Hot Summer Nights Tour.” Check it out at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. You can also take Bus Route 227.

Karaoke Night at McCall Plaza is just what it sounds like – a chance to bring your friends and sing under the stars in the heart of the Downtown Plano Arts District. McCall Plaza is just a block away from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.

Small Shop Saturday is a great way to show your support for local businesses in Historic Downtown Carrollton, a charming district of restaurants, boutiques and other fun stuff. Visit “mom and pop” by taking the Green Line to Downtown Carrollton Station. 

Captain Blood: A Pirate Melodrama follows the adventures of a bumbling bunch of buccaneers.  There’s fighting, singing and laughter at Pocket Sandwich Theatre, walkable from the Green Line’s Downtown Carrollton Station.

If You Look Hard Enough, You Can see Our Future brings together paintings, works on paper, sculptures, and photography created in South Africa between 1948 and 2020. The exhibition encompasses portraiture, cityscapes, landscapes and more. See it through August 13 at the African American Museum Dallas, a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.
