In this installment, we highlight food and shopping. Indulge in some retail therapy and grab a bite to eat in between. DART can take you there!
Brunch
It’s surely the most important meal of the week. Don’t miss brunch at Gloria’s in Las Colinas, walkable from the Orange Line's Irving Convention Center Station; Vickery Park Plano, just around the corner from Downtown Plano Station; or Meso Maya in Victory Park, walkable from Akard Station on all four Rail Lines.
Burgers
A bonanza of burgers is DARTable. Check out Twisted Root, with locations near Downtown Carrollton Station and Deep Ellum Station, both accessible by the Green Line. For a hidden gem, try the burgers at Ye Ole Butcher Shop, walkable from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.
Beer
Beer nerds! Let DART drive you to these craft beer purveyors: Bankhead Brewing, a short walk from the Blue Line's Downtown Rowlett Station, and Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery near the Blue Line's Downtown Garland Station. Prefer a British-style pub? Try the Cork & Pig Tavern near Las Colinas Urban Center Station on the Orange Line; the Fillmore Pub, a block from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line; or The Londoner, near SMU/Mockingbird Station on the Red, Orange and Blue Lines.
Asian Trade District
This unique lineup of restaurants and shops is mostly Korean, though other cultures are represented, as well. Fashion? Food? Karaoke? You’ll find it all near Royal Lane Station on the Green Line.
Ice cream
When temperatures heat up, cool off at The Creamistry, near Las Colinas Urban Center Station. Also recommended: Pokey O’s Cookies and Ice Cream near SMU/Mockingbird Station on the Red, Orange and Blue Lines.
Markets
Farmers markets offer fresh produce along with live music, artisans' wares and more. Deep Ellum Outdoor Market is near Baylor University Medical Center on the Green Line; CityLine Night Market is near CityLine/Bush Station on the Red/Orange Line; and the Farmers and Craft Market is walkable from Downtown Rowlett Station on the Blue Line.
Pizza
Here’s the dish on DARTable pies. Try Grimaldi’s, an authentic New York transplant with two DARTable locations – one near the Red and Orange Line's Cityplace/Uptown Station and another near Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line. Cane Rosso serves it up Neapolitan-style and has locations near the Green Line's Deep Ellum Station and the Downtown Carrollton Station.
Retro threads
Hunting for vintage finds never goes out of style. Gratitude Vintage Clothing is walkable from the Green Line's Downtown Carrollton Station, and Vintage Gnomey at the Plano Shopping Co-op is near the Red Line's Downtown Plano Station. Near the Blue Line's Downtown Garland Station, you’ll find The Frocksy Vintage Vogue and Boogie Nights Vintage.

Our DARTable picks: Sundown at Granada, walkable from SMU/Mockingbird Station or a block from Bus Route 3; Happiest Hour, near Victory Station on the Orange and Green Line; The Garden Lounge atop the Canvas Hotel near the Red and Blue Lines' Cedars Station; or numerous spots in Deep Ellum, close to Baylor University Medical Center Station on the Green Line.
Shopping
It’s a full-contact sport in North Texas. Don’t miss West Village, a fashionable enclave a few blocks from Cityplace/Uptown Station on the Red and Blue Lines; and Historic Downtown Carrollton, served by Downtown Carrollton Station on the Green Line. NorthPark Center offers a classic Dallas shopping experience, and the mall also displays museum-quality sculpture. Get there by taking the NorthPark Shuttle (Bus Route 402) from the Red and Orange Lines' Park Lane Station.
Tex-Mex
Some DARTable options include Urban Rio, a stylish spot near the Red Line's Downtown Plano Station; Pepe and Mito’s in Deep Ellum, a mainstay just a block from the Green Line's Baylor University Medical Center Station; and Hugo’s Invitados near Las Colinas Urban Center Station on the Orange Line.
Nightlife.
Got night fever? DART has the cure. Hip, music-centric Deep Ellum is served by Deep Ellum Station. Fashionable, trendy Uptown is traversed by the M-Line trolley, which departs from Cityplace/Uptown Station. You can get to creative, walkable Bishop Arts District on the Dallas Streetcar, which leaves from Union Station. And the district surrounding Irving’s Toyota Music Factory – near Irving Convention Center Station – is full of restaurants, taverns, and music.
Live Music
In its 42nd year, the Basically Beethoven Festival includes four free chamber music concerts featuring many of Dallas’ top professional musicians as well as up-and-coming rising stars. The theme for 2023 is “Music with Friends.” Don't miss a performance happening all throughout the month of July at the Moody Performance Hall, walkable from Pearl/Art's District Station on all four DART Rail lines.
