aliencon3 thealiencon.com It’s a great weekend for aliens and those who love them. Music lovers and theatergoers are in luck, too. And who says you can’t be all four? Get out your GoPass app or Tap Card and get on board for a DARTable, out-there weekend. Thursday, Oct. 3 Prophets & Outlaws bring the sounds of Southern soul to Plano’s Courtyard Theater. The band’s five-part harmonies and way with a groove have earned it a loyal following throughout the country, and the hometown boys will be bringin’ it on back home at the Courtyard Theater, right across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station. The show is part of the ongoing Courtyard Texas Music Series.  Friday, Oct. 4 AlienCon kicks off tonight, and it will it will be going all weekend at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. It’s the spacey convention’s first time in Dallas. There will be sci-fi authors, scientists, and filmmakers. Of course, experts will discuss the theory that extraterrestrials have visited Earth. And Saturday night, there’s a costume contest. Even if you don’t win, you can freak out your fellow passengers on the Red or Blue Line while you’re on your way to Convention Center Station. Who knew aliens were such avid users of public transportation? Chicago The Musical: In Concert also starts tonight and runs through Sunday. It’s a symphonic experience of the popular musical, with the full Dallas Symphony Orchestra (along with singers) performing show's music. Expect to hear all your favorites at this concert conducted by Rob Fisher at the Meyerson Symphony Center, about a 7-minute walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. Saturday, Oct. 5 Dracula is in the first weekend of its run, which extends until Oct. 27. Theatre 3’s fresh take on the time-tested classic tells the tale through the eyes of the vampire's mistress. There are plot twists and Romanian folklore aplenty, and the venue – located in the Quadrangle on Routh Street – is easily accessible by the M-Line Trolley. Christian Nodal takes the stage tonight at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. At barely 20 years old, the Mexican singer-songwriter already has enjoyed considerable success, with his catchy, ranchera-flavored “Adios Amor” hitting No. 1 in Mexico and No. 4 in the U.S. Latin market. The venue’s about a 9-minute walk from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. Free First Saturdays happens at the Nasher Sculpture Center today. Make art, sketch in the garden, write poetry and do other cool stuff with your child from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and get free admission until 5 p.m. The Nasher is about a 5-minute walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines. Sunday, Oct. 6 Away from the White House: Presidential Retreats has been on display for a while now at the George W. Bush Presidential Center; if you haven’t seen it yet, today’s your last chance. The exhibit showcases presidential retreats. Four in particular are examined in depth: Prairie Chapel Ranch in Texas (of course); LBJ Ranch; Camp David in Maryland; and Walker's Point in Maine. Other featured presidential retreats range from Mount Vernon to Mar-a-Lago. Get to the exhibit by taking the Red, Blue or Orange lines to Mockingbird Station, then catching Museum Express (Route 743), SMU Express (Route 768) or Route 521. #YourRideThisWeekend
