It’s a short walk from Downtown Rowlett Station on the Blue Line. Autumn at the Arboretum is one of the institution’s best-loved events, and it kicks off today. Check out more than 90,000 pumpkins and other gourds arranged in sculptural compositions at the Pumpkin Village. Take in the vibrant colors of fall in the form of 150,000 flowers. Partake in the daily tasting of seasonal produce, and check the schedule for cool weekly happenings, such as cooking classes. This year's theme, “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” is illustrated by giant topiaries and other made-for-Instagram displays. Get to the Arboretum by catching Bus Route 60 at Union Station or anywhere along its route. The durable lampoon of small-town Texas is bursting at the seams with colorful characters – but only has two actors. Visit Tuna, Texas (our state’s third-smallest town) by taking the Red, Blue or Orange lines to SMU/Mockingbird Station and walking across the street. Sunday, Sept. 22 Caravaggio: Martha and Mary Magdalene is an amazing Old World work, and today is your last chance to see it at the Dallas Museum of Art.  The circa-1598 masterpiece depicts Mary Magdalene experiencing a spiritual awakening as her sister Martha counts on her fingers the reasons she should convert. Caravaggio is one of the best o’ the Baroques, but you can only see a handful of his paintings in the U.S. Take advantage of this rare opportunity by catching any DART Rail line to St. Paul Station, and walking about five or six minutes north. Cats is another attraction that closes after today. The play hardly needs an introduction – it stars a cast of felines, it’s set in an awesome junkyard and it was based on a weird book by T.S. Eliot.  See Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hardy perennial at the Firehouse Theatre, across the street from the Green Line’s Farmers Branch Station.
