From haute cuisine to hash houses, the area is crackling with culinary energy, and for one day, you can sample it all on one corner (more or less). That corner is only about a 6-minute walk south of the Dallas Streetcar’s Bishop Arts stop. On May 4, Taste of Oak Cliff brings the neighborhood’s varied culinary scene to the blocks surrounding 10th Street and South Beckley for a family-friendly foodie festival sure to satisfy any palate. There will be more than 80 vendors in all. Expect food trucks and vendors, of course, but also novelty shops, bookstores and other one-of-a-kind establishments that make Oak Cliff what it is: a place where food, art, entertainment, cultures and generations intermingle to create a vibrant, eclectic district. Bring your appetite and sense of adventure to this community-oriented scene dedicated to the great eats of the ’Cliff. You’ll find chefs and merchants from other North Texas neighborhoods, too, of course. The event happens from noon to 7 p.m. Entry is $5 per person. You can catch the Dallas Streetcar at Union Station, served by the Red and Blue lines as well as the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). Be sure to come hungry!   DARTPlusBanner DART is making major improvements. To create a smoother ride through downtown Dallas and reduce service interruptions, track improvements and rail replacement began March 30 and will last for roughly six months. During that time, DART Rail in downtown Dallas will be discontinued each weekend between Pearl/Arts District Station and West End Station. Separate shuttle routes will be in operation. Thanks for bearing with us as we build a better future for North Texas. DART.org/Plus.
