Ask DART

Question: Why is the center crosswalk being removed from Baylor University Medical Center Station and how can we cross to the other side if it’s removed?

Answer: All DART rail stations are equipped with designated crosswalks at either end of the platform. Only 14 stations have center crosswalks. The Baylor University Medical Center Station is one of those stations. The center cross walk is being removed for the safety of our riders.

While using the center crosswalk to reach the other side of the platform may require fewer steps, using the crosswalk at either end of the station provides greater visibility for riders and operators.

Construction will begin Nov. 24 and should be completed by Nov. 27. Construction will not interrupt rail service. Riders should watch out for work crews during this short construction period.

When riding DART, always cross at designated crosswalks located at either end of the platform, stay alert at all times – especially when wearing ear buds, and never try to beat a train. Trains cannot stop on a dime or swerve to avoid people who inadvertently cross its path.
