DART’s Orange Line winds through the Las Colinas Urban Center by design. The city of Irving accumulated land for the right of way and stations to ensure that DART Rail would be an asset in this master-planned community.

And while Las Colinas is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, the Orange Line has sparked notable developments in the last decade. The rail corridor opened in three phases from 2012 to 2014.

The Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas opened in January 2011, near the future site of DART’s Irving Convention Center Station. Ideally situated on 40 acres in the heart of Las Colinas Urban Center, the facility is just one part of a mixed-use entertainment district.

The area also added a 350-room Westin Convention Center Hotel and the Toyota Music Factory. The entertainment complex is anchored by The Pavilion, an 8,000-seat indoor/outdoor amphitheater operated by Live Nation. With 25 restaurant options and a movie theater, the Toyota Music Factory is all-in-one dining and entertainment.

Now under construction, the future Northshore District mixed-use development will feature the new regional headquarters for Wells Fargo. Mirasol Capital is planning a 17-acre mixed-use retail and residential project facing the lake.

Closer to DART’s Las Colinas Urban Center Station, Water Street is one of Irving’s newer hot spots. This mixed-use development is strategically located on the shores of Lake Carolyn, just across from the Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture and museum. Water Street includes dining and retail, luxury apartments, and a park for special events.

The newly renovated Williams Square Plaza, home of the iconic Mustangs of Las Colinas, reopened in May 2022 after a year of construction. The City of Irving invested $7.8 million to revitalize the plaza and the bronze mustang sculptures. Improvements included lighting, fountain upgrades, and new greenspace and landscaping.
