2019 Dallas Senior Games kick off today with an opening ceremony and non-competitive 1K walk at the Fair Park Embarcadero Building. The celebration is themed “The Moment is Yours!” and you can get there by taking the Green Line to Fair Park Station. The games are tailor-made for those who are over 50 and fit – and they can be as competitive or as leisurely as you choose to make them. The DARTable, Olympics-style event continues through March 10, with specific events taking place at a variety of locations throughout Dallas. Most are DARTable, including Beckley Saner Recreation Center (Bus Route 522), Fretz Recreation Center (routes 402 and 403), Fair Oaks Tennis Center (Route 582), Harry Stone Recreation Center (Route 164), T Bar M Racquet Club (routes 36 and 486), and Greenhill School (Route 488). The Best of the Second City is in the middle of its three-night run, having opened Thursday; it continues through Saturday. The famous comedy troupe spawned some of the biggest names in comedy: Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Amy Poehler – the list goes on. The show features their most classic and beloved sketches. It’s playing the Eisemann Center. Get there by catching the Red Line to Galatyn Park Station. The venue is right across the plaza.

Saturday, March 2

TEXFest is a free event in Downtown Carrollton celebrating Texas Independence Day. Grab a local craft beer, tap your toe to live Texas music, check out a real longhorn and other Texas-themed attractions. And if you don’t have a Texas drawl, don’t worry – you will after a rollicking ride on a free mechanical bull. Break out your boots and your big belt buckle, and take the Green Line to Downtown Carrollton Station. The event happens from 3-9 p.m. on the square, a short walk south.Free First Saturdays at the Nasher Sculpture Center presents child-friendly programming from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and free admission for all until 5 p.m. Make art with the guest artists, snap some pics in the photo booth, or take an art walk with a Nasher educator. The Nasher Sculpture Center is only about a five-minute walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Sundays Kids in the Cliff is a cool storytelling series for kids in Bishop Arts District. Every Sunday morning at The Wild Detectives, a 30-minute story time session becomes a portal of discovery. This week, the selected titles are breakfast-related, with titles from Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss and more. The weekly event begins at 11 a.m., and all ages are welcome. The Wild Detectives is about a five-minute walk from the Bishop Arts stop of the Dallas Streetcar, which is a fun way to get there. It departs from Union Station.

An Iliad at Undermain Theatre gets its last performance today. Starring Bruce DuBose and Paul Semrad, and directed by Katherine Owens, this modern retelling of the ancient classic is full of poetry, humor and, of course, tales of the Trojan War. The Undermain is a short walk from Baylor University Medical Center Station on the Green Line.

The Boyfriend also ends its run after today. The musical at The Firehouse Theatre pays comical homage to Rodgers and Hart shows. Set in the French Riviera during the Roaring Twenties, it’s a story replete with romance, dancing, and the lively, infectious music of the Jazz Age. The theater is across the street from Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.
