DARTable performances are the name of the game this weekend, with several theatrical productions in the first weekend of their run. Other diversions include ballet and a trip to outer space. Read on to see where DART can take you.


Friday, Jan. 12

A Gathering of Dances is hosted by Millermuller Ballet and features an array of guests, including guests include Blue Bonnets Highland Dancers, Integrity Dance Arts, Raelene Marie, Rockwall Ballet Company, Trinity Dance Company, and more. The eclectic show highlights the best of each of the participating groups. The program includes both old favorites and new works, including a dance interpretation of El Greco’s paintings. See the performance on Friday night only at Garland’s Plaza Theatre, a short walk from Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.


Saturday, Jan. 13
Sensing Deep Space: Pandora’s Cluster is a multisensory installation that takes visitors on a tour through deep space. The blending of art and science is guaranteed to dazzle you. Don’t miss out on the experience through Feb. 4 at the Eisemann Center, just across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

Dog Man: The Musical follows the chronicles of a canine superhero who loves to fight crime and chew on furniture. Can he save the city from a cyborg fish, or the world’s most evil cat? Find out through Jan. 28 at the Wyly Theatre. The venue is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

The Producers tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer who comes up with a scheme to swindle their backers by producing the most notorious flop in history. But there’s a problem – the show becomes a hit. See it through Jan. 20 at Moody Performance Hall, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

Here Lies Jeremy Troy concerns a man who gets promoted to partner at his law firm. But he has a secret: He never went to law school. An old friend extorts him, and lots of comical plot twists ensue. Catch the comedy through Jan. 27 at Cox Playhouse, right across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.
