Elm Thicket is the newest play by Soul Rep Theatre Company cofounder Anyika McMillan-Herod. The comedy follows two middle-aged neighbors’ attempts to explore love and friendship while dealing with a global pandemic, social unrest, and the gentrification of Elm Thicket – the Dallas neighborhood where McMillan-Herod grew up. Catch the performance at the Wyly Theatre, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.

Friday, Jan. 19

The 39 Steps is a fast-paced whodunit combining the Hitchcock film with elements of a spy novel – plus a dash of Monty Python. The play opens tonight and runs through Feb. 3 at the Irving Arts Center. Get to the venue by taking Bus Route 229, departing from the Orange Line’s Dallas College North Lake Campus Station.

Elvis Costello and the Imposters come to Dallas in support of the 2022 album, The Boy Named If. Charlie Sexton opens. Don’t miss the genre-shifting musical pioneer at the Majestic Theatre. The venue is only a few blocks from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Flea Harvey’s is a monthly pop up market with 17 local vendors selling everything from vinyl, to art, to vintage clothes. DJ WildSide spins tunes all day, and Lee Harvey's serves breakfast tacos and mimosas. Lee Harvey’s is walkable from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue lines.

Hasan Minhaj takes on challenging themes in his comedy act. He approaches subjects like politics, parenting, and therapy with irreverent wit and insight. Minhaj is best known for his Netflix specials and his political satire show, Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. This Sunday night, he performs two shows at the Winspear Opera House.
