Happy New Year! This is the closing weekend for a pair of favorite seasonal events, with other great performances in store. Read on to see where DART can take you.

Friday, Jan. 3
Deep Ellum First Fridays are held the first Friday of every month, featuring olive music and an outdoor market celebrating the neighborhood’s culture, art, music, food, shopping, and history. This month’s theme is Formal, so feel free to dress to impress! The event takes place on Main Street and throughout the neighborhood. The festivities are all an easy walk from Baylor University Medical Center Station or Deep Ellum Station on the Green Line.

Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is the ultimate immersive, interactive adventure. The event gives longtime Minecraft players their first chance to be heroes in a real-life, in-person Minecraft quest. Battle mobs, collect resources, and experience Minecraft in a whole new way. The first-ever Minecraft Experience has been extended through Jan. 20 at 2712 North Central Expressway in Plano – that’s immediately west of Parker Road Station on the Red Line.

The Play That Goes Wrong
is a hilarious hybrid of Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes. Welcome to opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous, including an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Catch the performance through Jan. 19 at WaterTower Theatre, a short walk from Addison Transit Center, accessible by several bus routes.

Friday, Jan. 3-Saturday, Jan. 4

The Music of Star Wars finds the the Dallas Symphony Orchestra leading you through an intergalactic experience featuring John Williams’ iconic scores – including “Revenge of the Sith” and the heroic “Star Wars Main Title.” Experience the performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Dallas Zoo Lights is a spectacular display that fills the zoo grounds with more than two million lights, plus dozens of animal-shaped light sculptures and lanterns. Get to the luminous show by taking the Red Line to Dallas Zoo Station.

Friday, Jan. 3-Sunday, Jan. 5

The Trains at NorthPark is a beloved holiday tradition featuring more than 750 railcars on nearly a third of a mile of track – the biggest miniature train exhibit in Texas. Trains travel from the autumn foliage of New England to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, with numerous iconic stops along the way. DART is proud to partner with the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. To get there, take the NorthPark Shuttle (bus route 402), departing from Park Lane Station on the Red and Orange lines.

Saturday, Jan. 4

Free First Saturdays returns to the Nasher Sculpture Center this Saturday. Look, learn and love your time at the Nasher. Bring the whole crew to create, discover and make new memories together. Each month features a rotating schedule of things to see and do. The Nasher Sculpture Center is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.
