Barrio Daze is a one-man show about a fateful election day in the barrio, told through nine very different characters. See the performance at the Latino Cultural Center, just up the street from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.
Friday, Oct. 13
Bernhardt/Hamlet follows legendary Victorian actress Sarah Bernhardt’s scandalous decision to star in Hamlet. This behind-the-scenes story is laced with forbidden romance and backstage gossip. Catch the performance through Oct. 28 at Plano’s Cox Playhouse, just across Haggard Park from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.
Ranky Tanky brings the soulful songs of the Gullah culture to life. The native South Carolinians mix jazz, gospel, funk, and R&B. Grammy-winning powerhouse vocalist Lisa Fischer (who has toured for over 25 years with the Rolling Stones) joins them. Check the performance out at the Eisemann Center, just across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.
Friday, Oct. 13-Saturday, Oct. 14
Sankai Juku is more than Japanese dance – it’s an immersive evening. Founder Ushio Amagatsu is one of the premiere choreographers in the world today. Tonight’s program is a new presentation of his vision. Experience it at Moody Performance Hall. That’s walkable from Pearl/Arts District station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.
Saturday, Oct. 14
Saturdays on the Square continues in Downtown Carrollton. This week’s theme is Hispanic Heritage Month. Get there by taking the Green Line to Downtown Carrollton Station.
Garland Downtown Square Grand Opening id the official unveiling of Garland’s fully renovated town square. The new public space includes a large recreational and event lawn, a treehouse play area, and an urban water feature. The festive all-day event includes food from Garland’s diverse restaurants, family-friendly activities and a drone light show. There is also plentiful live music, including a special headlining performance from Garland native Le Ann Rimes. Get there by taking the Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station. DART will also have a booth at the event from 3-7:30 p.m.! Come celebrate with us for our 40th anniversary! We will be having fun games and prizes as well as promotional giveaways.
Sting comes to Irving. See the iconic singer and former Police man at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. That’s walkable from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. You can also take Bus Route 227.
Enhyphen comes to Dallas in support of their mini-album, Dark Blood. Catch the K-Pop outfit at American Airlines Center, served by Victory Station on the Green and Orange lines, as well as the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).
