DARTable events all over the place this week: Performances of all sorts, two art fairs, and a pair of events with an Italian theme. And of course, the State Fair of Texas is getting into full swing. This weekend is the annual Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl. With more than 100,000 expected people traveling to attend the game, DART makes getting there easy and safe.

Your Healing is Killing Me launches the national touring production of Virginia Grise’s one-woman performance. Don’t miss the performance at the Latino Cultural Center, just up the street from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.

The Other Art Fair showcases independent artists, with a juried selection of 130 artists from 11 countries and 19 states. (Just under half hail from Texas.) Original works include prints, paintings, photographs, sculpture, mixed media, and more. Check it out at Dallas Market Hall. That’s less than a half mile from Market Center Station on the Green and Orange lines. It’s served directly by Bus Route 230.
 

Friday, Oct. 6

Lizzie: The Musical explores the mind of Lizzie Borden, who famously murdered her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892. Along with her sister, maid, and neighbor, she tells her story with an electric punk rock score. See the performance through Oct. 29 at Theatre Three, accessible by the M-Line trolley.

Friday, Oct. 6-Saturday, Oct. 7

DanceAfrica immerses you in vibrant performances as Dallas Black Dance Theatre pays homage to the past, present, and future of African heritage. See the beautiful performance at Moody Performance Hall, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. It’s also accessible by the M-Line trolley.

Måneskin comes to Irving in support of their new album, Rush. See the Italian rock band at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. You can also take Bus Route 227.

DFW Italian Festival celebrates Italy with food, wine, performances, kids’ activities, gondola rides, and more. The festival is held across the street from the Mustangs at Las Colinas. The venue is walkable from Las Colinas Urban Center Station on the Orange Line.

Richardson Symphony Orchestra’s Opening Night Concert kicks off their season with a performance featuring Lili Boulanger’s “D’un matin de printemps” (“On a Spring Morning”). The RSO also performs works by Chausson, Ravel and Debussy. Catch the opening night at the Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station. 

Saturday, Oct. 7-Sunday, Oct. 8

Cottonwood Art Festival features works from the nation’s top visual artists. Out of 1,400 artists who submitted their work, 240 were selected to participate. The festival also features local bands in a variety of genres. The festival takes place in Richardson’s Cottonwood Park, which is accessible by Bus Routes 241 and 238.

Community Day is Dallas Museum of Art’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Enjoy free admission to the exhibition “Abraham Ángel: Between Wonder and Seduction.” The vibrant legacy of the Mexican artist is celebrated with art, lectures, and art-making activities. The DMA is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. The M-Line trolley gets you even closer.
