Season’s greetings! Heading into the long Christmas weekend, there are several DARTable diversions worth getting out of the house for. Check out the following if you haven’t yet, and happy holidays from DART.

Friday, Dec. 22

Movin’ On is based on the true events of five people living with various challenges – multiple sclerosis, domestic violence, and long-kept secrets among them. The main characters discover that they are related in ways they could not previously have imagined. See the play tonight only at Irving Arts Center. The venue is served by Bus Route 229, departing from the Orange Line’s Dallas College North Lake Campus Station.

Saturday, Dec. 23

Holiday at the Arboretum features three large-scale outdoor exhibits, including The Christmas Village, The 12 Days of Christmas, and the 50-foot-tall Dazzling Musical Tree. The creative displays are open both in the daytime and evening, while the historic DeGolyer House creates an atmosphere of holiday enchantment. You can see the magnificent display through Jan. 5. Get to the venue by taking Bus Route 214, departing from Union Station on the Red and Blue Lines.

The Trains At NorthPark - Photo Courtesy of FacebookThe Trains at NorthPark includes 1,600 feet of track rolling from coast to coast on a whimsical rail journey across America. The trains travel from the autumn foliage of New England to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge with stops at several iconic American scenes, including New York City, the Grand Canyon and many, many others. The amazing exhibit runs through Jan. 5. Get to NorthPark Center by taking the Red or Orange lines to Park Lane Station, then catching the NorthPark Shuttle (Bus Route 402).

Les Miserables is one of the biggest Broadway musicals ever, and it tells a timeless tale of passion, sacrifice and redemption. See the uplifting classic through Dec. 31 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. The venue is a very short walk from the Green Line’s Fair Park Station.
