It’s a weekend packed with live, DARTable performances, including the annual birthday party of a Dallas legend. Read on to see where DART can take you.

Thursday, Feb. 22-Sunday, Feb. 25

The 2024 North Texas Auto Expo is a popular annual event where you can preview the newest models. In fact, there are more than 650,00 square feet of the manufacturers’ latest and greatest. Sit behind the wheels of all the exotic dream cars – then come back down to Earth and comparison-shop your next mid-size SUV. Be sure to stop by the DART booth to say hi!  The show runs all weekend, from Thursday, Feb. 22 through Sunday, Feb. 25. Get to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center by taking the Red or Blue lines to Convention Center Station.

Friday, Feb. 23

Yanga tells the real-life story of Gaspar Yanga, an enslaved African prince who led a rebellion and negotiated an independent territory with the Spanish crown. This first-ever English translation explores the Afro-Mexican experience. See the performance through March 3 at the Latino Cultural Center, just down the street from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.

Beetlejuice is based on the beloved film. The musical comedy tells the story of an unusual teenager who meets a deceased couple and a demon. Underneath its comically “goth” surface, the play is a tale about family and love. Experience the performance through March 3 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. That’s easily walkable from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

Town for Sale concerns a secluded resort town on the decline. When a mysterious stranger arrives with a plan to revive it, many bizarre plot twists ensue, all to the accompaniment of entertaining music. Catch Ochre House Theater’s latest through March 2. The venue is easily walkable from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

Friday, Feb. 23-Saturday, Feb. 24

Zainab Johnson is a series regular on the Amazon series, Upload, is one of the hosts for Netflix’s 100 Humans, and starred as Dr. Hanniel in the web series Avant Guardians. She frequently appears at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store, The Improv, and Laugh Factory. She performs two shows each night at the Dallas Comedy Club, walkable from Baylor University Medical Center Station on the Green Line.

Saturday, Feb. 24

Eden Sher: I Was on A Sitcom finds the television actress – who played a principal character on all nine seasons of The Middle – recounting what happens when your TV show ends, and your “real life” begins. This intimate performance is funny, dark, and disarmingly casual. See Sher for one performance only at Wyly Studio Theatre, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines or from the M-Line.

Erykah Badu is both a local treasure and an internationally famous, four-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter. Sometimes called “The Queen of Neo-Soul,” Badu’s career also encompasses hip-hop and jazz, and cannot be neatly categorized. Her annual “birthday bash” is always a big occasion, and it takes place tonight at The Factory in Deep Ellum, walkable from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.

Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a career that spans Broadway, television, film, and concert appearances with the country’s finest conductors and orchestras. He’s received a Drama Desk Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and two Tony Awards. He performs this Saturday night at the Eisemann Center, located just across the plaza from Galatyn Park Station on the Red Line.

Sunday, Feb. 25

The Gipsy Kings meld moody, hot flamenco, rumba, salsa, and pop. Their 15 albums have sold over 20 million copies. They perform this Sunday night at House of Blues, walkable from West End Station on all four DART Rail lines.
