Friday, March 1

Deep Ellum First Fridays happens this evening, with this month’s live musical entertainment coming from Rosegarden Funeral Party. Celebrate Deep Ellum culture, art, music, food and shopping. There’s an outdoor market, as well as local store promotions. The event takes place 5-8 p.m., and is easily accessible by the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Center Station.

Music Made Here is a concert series featuring live performances in the newly renovated Downtown Garland Square. Tonight’s headliner is Gary P. Nunn. The pioneer of progressive country has a career spanning over four decades, including the classic “London Homesick Blues.” Along with the music, you can get bites from local restaurants. The event is kid-friendly, too. The square is walkable from Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Olivia Rodrigo comes to Dallas in support of her sophomore album, Guts. She is joined by Chappell Roan. See the Disney-star-turned-singer-songwriter at American Airlines Center. The venue is served by Victory Station on the Green and Orange lines, as well as the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

The North Texas Irish Festival has been going strong for 40 years, with three days of Irish-themed fun at Fair Park. Think harps, fiddles, dancers, food vendors and storytellers. One of the largest Irish festivals in the U.S., the family-friendly event is known far and wide as a premier venue for traditional Celtic music. This year’s lineup includes Breaking Trad, Dalliance, Ed Miller, and Eileen Ivers, among many others. Take the Green Line – appropriately enough – and get off at Fair Park Station, and you’re right there.

TEXFest is a celebration of Texas Independence Day (yes, there’s such a thing), featuring craft beer, food, and local artists performing Texas music. This year’s headlining entertainment is Clayton Mullen. There are also games, crafts, Texas trivia, and – of course – some terrific barbecue. The festivities all happen in Historic Downtown Carrollton, an easy stroll from the Green Line’s Downtown Carrollton Station.
