Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age is an eclectic evening of comedy and song. Subjects include the effects of gravity, the time the Brady Bunch mom punched him, and lessons he’s learned from his dog. There are two shows tonight at Moody Performance Hall, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

Follies is a grand spectacular featuring some of Stephen Sondheim’s best-known songs. Set in 1971, the story follows a reunion of ex-follies performers, which sets the stage for a parade of brilliant pastiche numbers, including “Losing My Mind,” “I'm Still Here” and “Broadway Baby.” Catch the performance through March 24 at Granville Arts Center, right next door to the Blue Line’s Downtown Garland Station.

Dear Brutus concerns an eclectic group of guests who are invited to a country house for Midsummers Eve. The night takes a turn for the magical as the guests wander into the woods and explore parallel versions of themselves. Part period drama, part fairytale, the play runs through March 23 at the Irving Arts Center, accessible by Bus Route 229.

Take the Couch follows a couple who have just returned from taking their last child off to college. They look forward to a little alone time, but their romantic plans are thwarted by nonstop visits from their dysfunctional family members, making for a comical weekend. The play runs through March 23 at the Cox Playhouse, just across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.
