It’s a great weekend for music and theater – and musical theater – lovers, with numerous DARTable offerings. And that’s not all. Read on to see where DART can take you this weekend.

KXT Summer Concert Series Klyde Warren ParkFriday, June 23

KXT 91.7 Summer Concert Series presents performances from local and national acts at Klyde Warren Park. There are beverages available for purchase, as well as the food trucks the park is known for. Friday night, check out La Bell and Gollay. Klyde Warren Park is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, and it’s right on the M-Line trolley’s route.

 

Chita Rivera recreates signature moments from her stories Broadway career in a unique concert. Expect songs from West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and many more. The theatrical icon comes to the Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

Next to Normal is an emotionally charged Tony-Award winning musical that explores a family that is “normal” on the surface. Underneath, the family endures a raw and emotional journey, as their mother struggles with bipolar disorder. The play runs through July 2 at Theatre Three, an easy walk from the M-Line trolley.

Madagascar The Musical finds Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria bounding out of the zoo and onto the stage in a spectacular musical. Take a journey to Madagascar at the Winspear Opera House. The venue is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART lines, or from the M-Line trolley.

So What?! Music Festival features a cross-section of genres ranging from pop-punk and rock, to metal, hip hop, rap, and more. Headliners include Pierce the Veil, The Used, Neck Deep, and Sleeping with Sirens. The festival takes place in Fair Park, served by the Green Line’s Fair Park Station.

Saturday, June 24

Hubblo Immersive Cinema Dome is a fully immersive film experience; you recline while the film wraps around you in a 360° journey of light and sound. There are three different experiences: The Family Experience, the Music Lovers Experience and the Explorer Film Experience. Prepare to be wowed at the Wyly Theatre, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley. The screenings run through July 9.

Dirty Heads bring their reggae-rock to Irving in support of their 2022 album, Midnight Control. Catch them at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line. You can also take Bus Route 227.

Pixies come to Dallas in support of their album, Doggerel. See the influential alt-rockers at the South Side ballroom, where they’ll be joined by Franz Ferdinand. The venue is walkable from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue lines.

The T-Byrd Gordon Band is presented by Pocket Sandwich Theatre. The band is a full-on Las Vegas-style revue with styles that include Motown, big band, jazz, country, pop and R&B. The theater is in Historic Downtown Carrollton, walkable from the Green Line’s Downtown Carrollton Station.
