Thursday, June 8

The Last Flapper concerns Zelda Fitzgerald, the Jazz Age icon, as she wrestles with her past while in a mental hospital. See the one-woman play at Theatre Three, on the Dallas mainstay’s Theatre Too stage. The show opens Thursday night and runs through June 11. The venue is a very short walk from the M-Line trolley.

Grease is a much-loved movie that’s from the ’70s but set in the ’50s. Thursday night, Garland’s Plaza Theater is screening it as part of the Throwback Thursday Movie Series. Tune up your pipes, because this is a singalong. You can even dress in a movie-themed costume for a chance to win prizes. The theater is walkable from Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Friday, June 9

KXT’s Summer Concert Series
is the great public radio station’s program of free concerts. This go-around, Kirk Thurmond and Max Poscente take the stage at Klyde Warren Park. You can walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines or take the M-Line trolley.

FanExpoFriday, June 9-Sunday, June 11

Fan Expo Dallas is the ultimate playground for anime, comic book, sci-fi, horror, cosplay, and gaming fans. Meet tons of celebrity guests, including Chevy Chase, Rosario Dawson, Christina Ricci, Rainn Wilson and many, many more. Nerd out all weekend long at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Get there by taking the Red or Blue Line to Convention Center Station. You can also get there by hopping the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to Union Station, then taking a short walk. The TRE does not run on Sunday.

Saturday, June 10

Downtown Sessions Concert: Lasting Effect is a free concert in Plano’s McCall Plaza. The band is a pop-punk outfit that’s been around for more than a decade. The venue is less than a block from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station. There are many dining and sipping options in the immediate vicinity.

Tejas Dance Presents Sannidhi: An Evening of Bharatanatyam showcases a combination of intricate dance and enchanting stories. Dance partners Bhuvana Venkatraman and Chintan Patel find innovative ways to share classical Indian Bharatanatyam with a nod to contemporary dance. See the performance at the Latino Cultural Center, just down the street from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.

Denton Drive Live presents free concerts in Farmers Branch’s The Grove at Mustang Station.  Tonight, Roots Southern Table will be on hand hosting their annual crawfish boil. The music should prove the perfect complement: Jean Pierre and the Zydeco Angels will perform along with Chubby carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band. The venue is very close to Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.

Duran Duran supplied a big portion of the soundtrack to the ’80s, and tonight they come to the American Airlines Center in support of a new album. Catch the performance by taking the Green Line or the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to Victory Station.
