Laughs, wine, art, and pinky pullups. Find them all this weekend and get there by DART.

Friday, Aug. 27

Laughs by the Lake returns to the shores of Lake Carolyn. It’s the largest outdoor comedy show in North Texas, and admission is free. Rik Roberts, a Nashville-based comedian noted for keeping it clean, headlines. Other acts include veteran performer Derrick Cackley and the improv duo Von & Jared. The show takes place 7-9 p.m. at the Levy Event Plaza, 501 E. Las Colinas Blvd. Bring a blanket and/or lawn chair, as seating is not provided. The Orange Line’s Las Colinas Urban Center Station puts you a short distance from the event.

All Weekend

Constance White: Her Ephemeral Self features life-sized collage installations by the Dallas artist. The exhibit opens Friday at the South Dallas Cultural Center with a reception that includes several food trucks. You can check it out through Sept. 30. The venue, at 3400 S. Fitzhugh, is a short walk from MLK, Jr. Station on the Green Line.

DSO Wine & Food Festival is the inaugural outing of a new event from Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The event starts Friday and runs all weekend long with champagnes, craft brews, and locally distilled spirits, plus samples and small plates from Dallas’ most celebrated chefs. And, of course, there’s plenty of wine! The event is centered on the Meyerson Symphony Center, a few blocks from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines.

The Science of Guinness World Records is the latest traveling exhibit at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. From the most pinky pullups, to the most BPMs (that’s drumbeats per minute, for you non-DJ types), quirky accomplishments come vividly to life, with an in-depth exploration of the science behind them. Get to the Perot Museum by taking any DART Rail line to Akard or West End stations, then walk a few blocks to the corner of N. Field and Broom streets, just past Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
