Thanksgiving is the perfect time to disconnect from our hectic lives and reconnect with family and friends. And after the feast is over, it’s good to get out and explore. DART ties together the region’s best offerings.

Here are some fun things to check out over Thanksgiving weekend.

A downtown on the move. Every DART Rail line and most bus routes converge on downtown Dallas, a pulsating urban scene with high-caliber parks and the largest arts district in the country. The Nasher Sculpture Center is a world-class oasis of internationally known art, while the Crow Museum of Asian Art displays breathtaking, exotic pieces for free. The Dallas Museum of Art has a diverse permanent collection and some of the best touring exhibits in the country. And near the West End, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum has a stunning new facility in which to display its fascinating – if sobering – artifacts.

Suburbs with character. Spend some time in the “town square” areas of some North Texas cities, and you’d hardly know you’re in a sprawling metropolis. There’s nothing generic about the downtowns of Plano, Garland and Carrollton, or the Downtown/Heritage Crossing district of Irving. Whether it’s an old-fashioned gazebo, a sleek modern arts center or streets cobbled in red brick, each has its own special charm. And all have rail stations named after them. Now that’s DARTable!

World-class airports. The holidays are a time for family – but not all of us are staying home. For many, Thanksgiving means travel. If you’re taking to the skies this season, you’re in a great position. Nonstop flight to Beijing? DFW International Airport has it. Hourly departures to Austin or Houston? Dallas Love Field delivers. And DART’s got you covered. The Orange Line Service serves DFW’s Terminal A, and the Love Link (Bus Route 534) whisks you from the Green Line’s Inwood/Love Field Station straight to the airport.
