Nothing connects us to the world like art. Stay in and enjoy free online access to local museum collections as well as online shows from performing arts organizations.

Dallas Museum of Art
The Dallas Museum of Art lets you DMA at home with virtual access to its whole collection. That’s something like 25,000 artworks spanning 5,000 years of history. If it sounds overwhelming, it’s not: The online collections are categorized in fun ways that invite you to jump in and explore. The artwork also is searchable. The DMA has a pretty engaging blog, too, with artist profiles, staff picks and insightful behind-the-scenes info.

Nasher Sculpture Center
The Nasher Sculpture Center has a wealth of educational resources online. You can also check out the museum’s current exhibit, Pieta by Barry X Ball, on Facebook, or browse the world-class museum’s YouTube page for artist talks, exhibit previews and kid-friendly programming. The Nasher periodically adds new features to its website, such as Shelf Life, a forum for artists and writers. They share videos, book recommendations, poems, recipes – you name it – much of it with a local slant.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science’s Amaze Your Brain at Home program helps you discover science right in your own backyard. And if you missed the amazing Origins: Fossils from the Cradle of Humankind (or even if you didn’t), take a virtual 360 tour of the exhibit.

Kimbell Art Museum
The Kimbell Art Museum has put its collection, plus audio tours and other cool stuff, online for you to discover.

Google Arts & Culture
Google Arts & Culture gives you access to more than 2,000 museums throughout the world, including the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

Theaters and Performance Venues
Theaters and performance venues are obviously vacant right now, but some of our area’s most-loved institutions are still doing what they do best. Most performances are free, but some require a ticket.

Ballet Dallas
Ballet Dallas is showcasing brand-new works of dance in their new web series, Pop-up Premieres! The choreographer and dancers work together remotely, along with original composers. You can see the beautiful results every other Friday at 5 p.m. on the troupe’s Facebook page. There’s lots of other cool stuff on there, too.

Badu’s Quarantine Concert Series
Badu’s Quarantine Concert Series is just as it sounds – riveting live performances from Dallas’ homegrown Queen of Neo-Soul, straight from her house to yours. It’s about as up-close-and-personal as you can get under quarantine, and new concerts are added periodically.

The Classic Theatre Project
The Classic Theatre Project presents plays that have stood the test of time. You can see their latest production, Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid, performed live in its entirety. Catch it on the company’s YouTube page April 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18. All shows are at 8 p.m. You can also view a recorded version.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has a wealth of beautiful, stirring music on both their Facebook and their YouTube pages.

Ochre House
Ochre House never disappoints with its thought-provoking, original works, and Mrs. Haggardly is no exception. Stream the new play, set in an orphanage in a world on the brink of war, at the theater’s YouTube page.

The Texas Theatre
The Texas Theatre delivers art-house fare right to your home – or computer – with its Virtual Cinema. Now showing: Corpus Christi, a Polish movie about faith and redemption, told through an offbeat story line.
