DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) is proposing a fare restructure aimed at simplifying and modernizing the way riders pay for transit services. The restructuring plan consolidates multiple fare options into a more streamlined system, making it easier for customers to navigate. Here's a breakdown of the major proposed changes:
Key Fare Changes:
1. 3-Hour Pass:
- The Single Ride (Bus and GoLink only), AM/PM Pass, and Midday Pass will be combined into a new 3-Hour Pass.
- Proposed fares for the 3-Hour Pass are $3.00 for local and $1.50 for local reduced. This pass offers flexibility for riders needing short-term access to DART services.
2. Annual Pass:
- The Annual Pass will be eliminated under the new proposal. DART is instead encouraging riders to consider monthly options or the corporate annual pass program, which will remain in place.
3. Monthly Pass:
- The cost of the Monthly Pass is set to rise. The proposed fare is $126.00 for local and $63.00 for local reduced. This change reflects DART’s effort to adjust fare structures while still providing affordable options for frequent riders.
4. Day Pass:
- Despite other fare adjustments, the Day Pass fare remains the same at $6.00 for local and $3.00 for local reduced.
5. Paratransit:
- The Paratransit fare will continue as is, with the single-ride fare at $3.50 and the reduced fare at $1.00.
Additional Programs and Incentives:
- Veterans Discount Program:
- DART is proposing the introduction of a new discount program for Veterans as part of their commitment to serving the community.
- The Discount GoPass Tap Card Program:
- The Discount GoPass Tap Card Program for low-income customers, currently a pilot, will become a permanent offering. This program aims to assist qualified riders with more affordable transit options.
- Corporate and Educational Institution Incentives:
- DART is looking to incentivize bulk sales for special events, corporate, and educational institutions through various programs.
- The Corporate Annual Pass program will also have a new monthly payment option, making it more accessible to companies and organizations.
- Expansion of the educational institution program to include elementary schools is another consideration, broadening the scope of affordable transit for students.
