Question:

Am I required to wear a mask and practice social distancing on DART buses and trains?

Answer:

As more North Texans return to their worksite, ridership on DART’s buses and trains is expected to increase. When you board a DART bus or train, always wear a mask – it’s for your safety and others. We also encourage customers to wear their face covering while waiting at bus stops, transit facilities and rail stations when maintaining a 6-foot social distance from other riders is not possible.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the use of cloth face coverings can help slow the spread of the coronavirus. The masks do not have to be hospital-grade. Customers can use bandanas, scarfs, fabric masks, etc. to cover your mouth and nose.

In addition to masks, customers are encouraged to practice social distancing when onboard. The CDC recommends you keep 6 feet apart from others. With that in mind, DART is asking all customers to:

  • Leave an open seat between yourself and other riders when available.
  • Use a contactless fare payment method such as GoPass or the GoPass Tap card.
  • Avoid physical contact with fellow passengers, including handshakes and hugs.
  • Stay home and avoid public places if you feel sick or are experiencing symptoms.

As a DART passenger, if you see an unhygienic surface that needs attention, please contact DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111. Or you can submit a comment or concern with the "DART Say Something" app, which can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.
