30304D_005_2048.jpg Southern Methodist University Football, music, theater and a chocolate festival -- they’re all happening this weekend and they’re all DARTable. Friday, Sept. 6 Cats is one of the most beloved musicals of all time, having been performed eleventy-zillion times (our estimate). The Firehouse Theatre’s production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic runs through Sept. 22. Set in a larger-than-life junkyard playground, the play is based on the work of T.S. Eliot and includes the hit “Memory.” See this spectacular by catching the Green Line to Farmers Branch Station. The theater is right across the street. The Sleeping Beauty is an enchanting ballet performed by Texas Ballet Theater and the Dallas Opera Orchestra. The lavish production has elaborate costumes and sets; it’s choreographed by famous dancer Ben Stevenson. Performances are from tonight through Sunday at the Winspear Opera House, about a 7-minute walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. Saturday, Sept. 7 SMU Mustangs and UNT Mean Green square off on the gridiron. Both are three and two in their last five games, and both are coming off wins in the regular season opener. The game takes place at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the SMU campus. To get there, take the Red, Blue or Orange lines to the newly renamed SMU/Mockingbird Station. From there, follow the crowds – the stadium is on the other side of the freeway. Free First Saturdays at the Nasher Sculpture Center is going on today, with fun kids’ programming from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is free until 5 p.m. The Nasher Sculpture Center is about a 5-minute walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines. Celestial Celebration is a multimedia experience featuring the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and students from the University of Texas at Dallas. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the RSO performs a star-studded program: Josef Strauss’ “Music of the Spheres,” Claude Debussy's “Claire de Lune” and Gustav Holst's “The Planets.” The performance is accompanied by nine video pieces created by the students. It’s at the Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station. The Dallas Chocolate Festival is two days dedicated to everyone’s favorite confection. Today and Sunday, check out more than 60 chocolatiers (sounds fancy). The family-friendly expo features samples, demonstrations, food trucks and such. You can even take chocolate-making classes, and call yourself a fancy chocolatier. We won’t accuse you of putting on airs. The event takes place at the Fashion Industry Gallery, on Ross Avenue between Akard and St. Paul streets. That’s about a 2-minute walk from St. Paul Station. Sunday, Sept. 8 Latinidades concludes today. The unique festival is all solo shows; Latino performers from throughout the United States share their stories and experiences. The event takes place at the Latino Cultural Center, just down the street from Deep Ellum Station on the Green Line.   #Your Ride This Weekend #DART2Nasher #DART2SMU
