North Texas cities go all-out when it comes to celebrating Independence Day. Avoid traffic and parking by riding DART to these Fourth of July events.
June 29
Klyde Warren Park Independence Day Celebration will feature cold treats from more than a dozen vendors, contests, live music, games and lots of family fun. To cap off the evening, the U.S. Army's 36th Infantry Division Band will perform to the backdrop of a spectacular pyrotechnic display. The event takes place from 5-9 p.m. at Klyde Warren Park. The park is about an 8-minute walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines; you can also get there on the M-Line Trolley.
July 3
Addison Kaboom Town is one of the big yearly events in these parts, with live music and a spectacular air show. That’s not to mention an award-winning fireworks show at Addison Circle Park, a short walk from Addison Transit Center. The event takes place from 4 p.m.-midnight.
Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration features a spectacular low-level fireworks show accompanied by a high-energy dance band, a kids’ zone, vendors, festival food and more. The event happens from 6:30-10 p.m. at Farmers Branch Historical Park, right next to Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.
July 4
Five on the 4th is a family-friendly running event that will help you start your Independence Day off on the right foot. There are four races: a 5-mile, a 5K, a 2-mile walk and a kid’s race. It all begins at Klyde Warren Park at 8 a.m. The park is about an 8-minute walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines; you can also get there on the M-Line Trolley.
Fair Park Fourth on the Midway celebrates Independence Day with live music, rides, games, fireworks and your favorite fair foods. In addition, the State Fair of Texas Midway will be open all day. Take the Green Line to Fair Park or MLK, Jr. stations to enjoy this taste of the State Fair in July.
Irving Independence Day Fireworks Show presents dazzling pyrotechnics on the shores of scenic Lake Carolyn. Join thousands of people in Las Colinas for the festivities, which include music and other fun stuff in addition to fireworks. Blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome. The celebration happens from 6-10 p.m. at Lake Carolyn a short walk from the Orange Line’s Las Colinas Urban Center Station.
Rowlett Fireworks on Main is a fun-filled night for the whole family that will feature live music, children's activities, teen activities such as Outdoor Laser Tag, a wide variety of food vendors and - of course - fireworks. The event takes place from 6-10 p.m. at Pecan Grove Park, just under a mile from Downtown Rowlett Station on the Blue Line 5300 Main St.
Note: Bus, light rail and Dallas Streetcar services will follow a Sunday schedule on Thursday, July 4, 2019.Trinity Railway Express trains will not operate.
