Are you that daredevil who always orders spice level: five at Asian restaurants? Do you grab the last fried jalapeno after your friends have fallen by the wayside? Well, your tribe is coming to town Jan. 24-26 when ZestFest returns to the Irving Convention Center. That’s right on the Orange Line.
With the most picante foods in the country all under one roof, this annual celebration of all things spicy is sure to red-line the Scoville scale. Exhibitors come to town from far and wide. Mom-and-pop shops, big industry names, and celebrity chefs all have one goal in mind: to make your forehead sweat. Admission to the event includes food tastings, as well as beer and liquor samplings.
In addition to the spicy wares at the booths, there will be cooking demos, live music, and eating competitions. Test your mettle at the Atomic Wing Challenge. Show’em what you’re made of at the Puckerbutt Jalapeno Eating Contest (you’ll have to sign a waiver for that one).
DART is the best way to get to the incendiary festival. Get on the Orange Line, get off at Irving Convention Center Station, and crank the capsaicin knob up to 11.
