Dallas Black Dance Theatre is not letting the COVID-19 pandemic stop them from bringing the magic to fans – they’re just doing it virtually instead of live. On April 17-18, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre will perform Rising Excellence virtually.

As the oldest, continuously operating professional dance company in the city, Dallas Black Dance Theatre is one of North Texas’ cultural treasures.

Rising Excellence is presented by the acclaimed troupe’s DBDT: Encore! group of eight classically trained dancers from around the nation. The program has showcased some of the nation’s best choreographers and dancers.

The program features new work by choreographer Nycole Ray, whose Nineteenth explores the struggles of women as they balance the demands of family and work. Choreographer Joshua L. Peugh restages Slump, a romantic comedy in dance. And New Yorker Jess Hendricks rounds out the excellence with the athletic Shedding Skin.

You can view Rising Excellence from 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 18. Get tickets for the performance here.

DART is proud to partner with the Dallas Black Dance Theater, which stages its live performances at DARTable venues located in the Dallas Arts and Convention Center districts.
