As we look back on DART's 40-year history, we celebrate both our early years and our more recent accomplishments.
The Cockrell Hill Transfer Location, a bus-only facility on Jefferson Boulevard, opened in August 2000.
Today, the transfer location is one of the busiest in the DART System. This year, Cockrell Hill opened a new park across the street from the DART facility. The new park was named after guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughan. The late artist is from Oak Cliff and reportedly performed his first concert in Cockrell Hill. The park is built on the site where Vaughan played. The venue burned down decades ago and when the property went up for sale, the city bought it for the park. DART, in partnership with the city, will host a block party at the part to celebrate DART’s 40th anniversary.
