As we look back on DART's 40-year history, we celebrate both our early years and our more recent accomplishments.

The 28-mile, 20-station, $1.8 billion Green Line was completed on schedule and under budget on Dec. 6, 2000, when it opened 24 miles and 15 stations creating new light rail connections for DART customers from southeast Dallas to the cities of Farmers Branch and Carrollton in the northwest. It was the longest single day opening of electric light rail in the United States since 1990.

Today, Farmers Branch is served by light rail, fixed-route bus service, and GoLink – DART’s on-demand service that provides curb-to-curb service within a designated zone. The opening of the Farmers Branch Station has helped spur transit-oriented development in the area. One of the first developments was the Mustang Station apartments, which opened in 2013. But that was only the beginning. The area now boasts The Shops at Mustang, a restaurant village, just steps away from the rail station. There are also single-family homes available. The city recently broke ground on an innovative 18,000 square foot glow-in-the-dark playground that is walkable from the Farmers Branch Station.
