Lots of cultural stuff going on this weekend – dance, theater, exhibits. All DARTable. There’s also a big boat show for the maritime-inclined, and it runs all weekend. (Note: You can’t take a boat on DART, but you’re welcome to try.) Dive into the weekend and enjoy the following events.

Friday, Feb. 1

Dorrance Dance is New York-based tap dance company – but it’s probably unlike any tap-dance routine you’ve seen. The company's work pushes the form’s limits in terms of rhythm and technique, and expands it conceptually. Presented by TITAS, the one-night-only show is at the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora St., about an 8-minute walk from Pearl/Arts District Station.

The Dallas Winter Boat Expo is a great place to dream big – or small. The event features more than 600 new boats, and they range from fishing boats to family cruisers, from ski boats to sail boats. And if you already have a boat, you can get in touch with your inner gearhead and check out all the latest accessories and doo-dads. The expo happens Friday through Sunday at Dallas Market Hall. It will be back next weekend, as well. Take the Green or Orange line to Market Center Station; from there it’s less than a half-mile walk. Bus Route 749 will get you there, too, and it departs from Southwestern Medical District/Parkland Station.

Ravenscroft is a fast-paced murder mystery that gets its last performance tomorrow night.  The premise: On a snowy night, Inspector Ruffing is called to a remote house to investigate a suspicious death. He gets conflicting accounts from five alluring women. So who done it? Find out at the Dupree Theatre at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd. You can get there on Bus Route 401, which departs from North Lake College Station and runs until 10:15 p.m. on weekdays.

Saturday, Feb. 2

Benton Downs Photography Exhibition at the ArtCentre of Plano closes after today. You’ll find fascinating photos from around the world – both landscapes and urban architecture shots. The photographers, David Downs and Barry Benton, are both award-winning, and photographs are available for purchase. The venue is just across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station. It closes at 5 p.m.

Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame, from “That’ll Be the Day” until “The Day the Music Died.” The show features more than 20 classic songs, including “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” and the rest. The show runs through Feb. 10 at the Granville Arts Center in Garland, right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line. Tonight would be a great time to catch it.

Sunday, Feb. 3

The Book of Mormon is a wildly popular musical comedy. The merry romp concerns two mismatched missionaries who have crazy adventures halfway around the world from home. Today is your last chance to catch Dallas Summer Musicals’ production of it. Or your last two chances: There will be a 1:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. show at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Take the Green Line to Fair Park Station and you’re practically there.

Spring Awakening also gets its final performance today; there’s only a 2 p.m. matinee with this one.  The Tony Awards-winning musical, presented by Uptown Players, is a coming-of-age story set in late 19th-century Germany as they come of age. Expect to go home with an earworm or three. The show is at Moody Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District – about an 8-minute stroll from Pearl/Arts District Station, accessible from all four DART Rail lines.
