Happy Valentine’s Day! If you haven’t bought flowers or chocolate by the time you read this, we can’t guarantee they’ll be easy to come by. We can guarantee that DART will get you to a pair of Valentine’s-themed performances on Valentine’s Day – plus lots of other cool stuff that fits the bill whether you’re single, hitched, betrothed or somewhere in between. Get on board, get out into a weekend of spring-like weather, and get into these performances, exhibits and other events.

Thursday, Feb. 14

I Do! I Do! is a nostalgic work about the ins and outs of romance. We follow Michael and Agnes from their wedding day all the way through a midlife crisis and beyond. The story is set to a tuneful, charming score. Performances open tonight and run through Monday at the Majestic Theatre. It’s only about a three-block walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

My Funny Valentine is another performance that’s tailor-made for this day. The show features the standup duo of Pat Hazell and Dena Blizzard riffing on relationships and dating. There’s even a Q&A where you can ask relationship advice (pro tip: don’t forget to buy flowers or chocolate). Performances happen tonight through Saturday night, plus a Saturday matinee. Catch it at the Eisemann Center – just steps from Galatyn Park Station on the Red Line.

Friday, Feb. 15

Bless Me, Ultima is the tale of a 6-year-old boy who meets a curandera – one who heals with herbs and magic. She comes to live with the boy’s family and helps him face the challenges of childhood. Along the way, he discovers the magic of his ancestors and himself. The story of healing and Mexican-American culture is performed in English through March 3. It’s at the Latino Cultural Center, two blocks from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.

Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art rolls around again, with its trove of experiences and performances. From 6 p.m. to midnight, explore the Keir Collection of Islamic Art. There also will be world music, Arabic calligraphy, a Late Night Talk about contemporary Muslim fashion, and lots more. While you’re there, be sure to check out An Enduring Legacy: The Eugene and Margaret McDermott Collection of Impressionist and Modern Art, which closes after Sunday. The exhibition has pieces by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Henry Moore, among others.

’til Midnight at the Nasher will be going on right across Olive Street, with musical performances by Matthew Ryan, Brandon Koro and Rhett Miller. Yep, that’s right: The frontman and main songwriter of the Old 97’s will give an intimate performance right in the Dallas Arts District. There also will be a screening of the film Black Panther.

Both the Nasher and the DMA are about a three-block walk from St. Paul Station, served by all DART Rail lines.

Cultural Awareness offers you an opportunity to enjoy African American arts and culture this Black History Month. The performance is the Dallas Black Dance Theater’s salute to Odetta Homes and Nina Simone. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater artist Matthew Rushing created ODETTA; choreographer Dianne McIntyre evokes the incomparable High Priestess of Soul with Nina Simone Project. Performances are for three nights only – tonight through Sunday – at the Wyly Theater. It’s about a nine-minute walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four rail lines.

Saturday, Feb. 16

Bells Are Ringing is a romantic musical comedy at the Granville Arts Center in Downtown Garland. The play follows an eavesdropping answering-service operator (are you old enough to remember those?) who meddles in her clients’ private lives using a variety of voices and characters. Along the way, she falls in love with a struggling playwright. Performances run Friday and Saturday nights, with a Sunday matinee. The Granville is right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Sunday, Feb. 17

Rainbow Vomit is at the end of its run; after Monday, it will be gone. The interactive art experience immerses you in technicolor art, light and sound. A 2,600-square foot space in Exposition Park is packed with everything from superheroes to unicorns, with colors that seem to have been “vomited” from a comic book. The pop-up art adventure is at 3609 Parry Ave., catty-corner from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.
