Head to theater, comedy, a kids’ film festival and more this weekend.

Let DART do the driving to these great events.

Friday, Jan. 16

Dungeons & Dragons: The Immersive Quest lets you embark on a heroic journey, face thrilling challenges, and go on a quest where you’ll face legendary D&D creatures. There are theatrical performances, cinematic visuals, and interactive environments at the immersive event, which runs through Feb. 1. It all happens at At Home, very near Parker Road Station on the Red Line.

Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty is a unique fusion of classical ballet and modern technology, with dancers performing with light effects and glow-in-the-dark costumes. Experience it at the Irving Arts Center, accessible bus route 229, which departs from the Orange Line’s Dallas College North Lake Campus Station.

The Lady Demands Satisfaction is a classic farce with all the elements, including young maidens, wimpy suitors, and dueling with swords. See it through Feb. 1 at Cox Playhouse. That’s right across Haggard Park from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.

Friday, Jan. 16-Saturday, Jan. 17

David Nihill is the winner of the prestigious annual San Francisco Comedy Competition. His shows draw on his observation as a traveler and immigrant. He puts on four shows over two nights at the Dallas Comedy Club, a short walk from the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Center Station.

Saturday, Jan. 17-Sunday, Jan. 18

The 42nd Annual KidFilm Family Festival will feature screenings of nine new animated and live-action feature films, as well as three showcases featuring 22 animated and live-action short films. The highlight of the festival will be a preview screening of The Pout-Pout Fish, based on the best-selling children's book by Deborah Diesen, who will be on hand for the screening. The festival happens at the Angelika Film Center, next to SMU/Mockingbird Station on the Red, Blue, and Orange lines.
