Main Street Social Saturdays
Dallas’ cup runneth over as our summer of soccer kicks into full swing. This weekend, you’ll find lots of soccer-related fun. There’s the fan festival, of course, but that’s only a start. Take DART to the festivities and avoid traffic and parking hassles. There are still plenty of non-soccer-related events, too, of course, and DART takes you there. Read on for this weekend’s DARTable offerings.
Friday, June 26

Argentina Banderazo rides again! If you missed the first one, you’re in for a treat. Expect many blue-and-white flags of all sizes, spirited singalongs, drumming and high spirits. The unique cultural experience happens at 6 p.m. in Klyde Warren Park, walkable from St. Paul Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

Flora Street Live is a walkable, multi-venue experience along Flora Street that welcomes soccer fans from around the world to North Texas. The event features performances, film, live music and visual art. Fun for visitors and locals alike, the festival-like happening is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.
Shakey Graves comes to town joined by Amanda Shires and J. Isaiah Evans & The Boss Tweed. Enjoy this evening of Americana music at Strauss Square in the Dallas Arts District. Get there by walking from Pearl/Arts District Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

Alex Isley performs in Dallas supporting her new album, When the City Sleeps. Catch the R&B and soul artist at House of Blues, walkable from West End Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines.

Shrek the Musical is the beloved tale of an ogre who turns out to be a hero. Between him, his smarty-pants donkey of a sidekick, and a princess who doesn’t seem to want to be rescued, charming entertainment abounds in this production running through July 12 at The Firehouse Theatre. That’s a short walk from Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.
Friday, June 26-Saturday, June 27

Halperin Park, the brand-new “deck park” spanning I-35E in Oak Cliff, hosts several free public viewing events throughout the tournament. Matches are shown on a 300-square-foot LED wall. There are DJs, food trucks, and more. This weekend, you can catch:
Norway vs. France, 2-4 p.m.
Uruguay vs. Spain, 7-9 p.m.
Panama vs. England, 4-6 p.m.
Colombia vs. Portugal, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Jordan vs. Argentina, 9-11 p.m.
The park is a very short walk from Dallas Zoo Station on the Red Line.

Saturday, June 27

Main Street Social Saturdays takes place for the next several Saturdays while all the soccer fans are in town. Select blocks of Main Street in downtown Dallas are closed to vehicle traffic, making way for vendors, food trucks, and live music. It’s all close to Akard Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines.

Jorg’s Café Vienna is showing all German and Austrian matches in one of the most popular Austrian restaurants in North Texas. This evening, you can watch Austria take on Algeria on a big projector while enjoying an Austrian lager and the best schnitzel in town. The match begins at 8 p.m. The restaurant is a short walk from Downtown Plano Station on the Red or Orange Line. Reservations are recommended.
