Friday, Nov. 1
Deep Ellum First Fridays are held the first Friday of every month, featuring live music and an outdoor market celebrating the neighborhood’s culture, art, music, food, shopping, and history. This evening’s installment is Día De Los Muertos-themed, and will feature a public ofrenda. The event takes place on Main Street and throughout the neighborhood. Deep Ellum is an easy walk from Baylor University Medical Center and Deep Ellum stations on the Green Line.
Music Made Here is a concert series with live performances in the renovated Downtown Garland Square. Tonight, catch seasoned country guitarist Mike Tuck. Along with the music, you can enjoy bites from local restaurants. Get there by taking the Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station.
A Little Night Music is a witty and moving musical with a score that includes “Send in the Clowns.” The play explores the tangled web spun by an actress and the two men who love her. See it through Nov. 16 at the Irving Arts Center. You can get there on Bus Route 229, departing from Dallas College North Lake Campus Station.

Menopause the Musical 2: Cruising Through ‘The Change’ takes a comical look at menopause, as well as friendship. The journey of self-discovery is backed by a new soundtrack of toe-tapping parodied hits from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. See it at the Wyly Theatre in the AT&T Arts District, which is an easy walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all light rail lines.
Saturday, Nov. 2
Festival at the Switchyard is one of our region’s biggest festivals – and it’s free! In addition to free concerts, the festival features live children’s entertainment, front-of-stage community performances, rides and games, face painting and balloon art, a beer garden, and an array of vendors. The Wallflowers headline this year with Deep Blue Something opening. It all takes place in Historic Downtown Carrollton, a short walk from Downtown Carrollton Station on the Green Line.
Día de los Muertos is Garland’s annual celebration, which includes mariachi and ballet folklorico performances. Adding to the festivities is Dreaming of You: The Selena Experience, a tribute band honoring the Queen of Tejano. There will also be food trucks, a juried art exhibition, an artisan market, and altar displays. Experience it at the Granville Arts Center, right next to the Blue Line’s Downtown Garland Station.
Exit the King is French playwright Eugene Ionesco’s absurdist comedy set in a crumbling palace where a once-great king refuses to accept his demise. The play opens Saturday night and runs through Nov. 24 at the Undermain Theatre, walkable from Baylor University Medical Center Station on the Green Line.
Sunday, Nov. 3
The Dallas Mavericks take on the Orlando Magic at the American Airlines Center. The best way to get there is to take the Green or Orange lines to Victory Station.
