The holiday celebrations continue throughout North Texas, with performances, light displays and even a seasonally themed vintage train ride. Read on to find out this week’s DARTable happenings.

Friday, Dec. 17

The Holidays at Heritage series continues in Downtown Irving with a screening the Dr. Seuss classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (that’s the live-action version, starring Jim Carrey). A food truck will be on site. The event takes place at Heritage Park, a short walk from Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). The event starts at 6:30 p.m.; the last train back to Dallas leaves at 11:01 p.m.

Christmas Belles billed as a “Southern-fried yuletide comedy,” follows the travails of the residents of Fayro, Texas, as they make it through another holiday season. Feuding sisters, conniving choir directors, Elvis impersonators and tainted pancake suppers – all conspire to ruin the Tabernacle of the Lamb’s annual Christmas program. The show runs through Sunday, with another pair of performances next weekend, at Granville Arts Center. The venue is right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Saturday, Dec. 18

Lights on the Farm is a dazzling display at the Heritage Farmstead Museum in Plano. A million twinkling lights and animated displays line a quarter-mile trail through the property. You’ll also find a huge Christmas tree, hot cocoa, s’mores and other refreshments, plus a chance to visit with Santa. The farm is located on W. 15th Street near Custer Road; you can get there on Bus Route 350, which departs from the Red Line’s Parker Road Station.

Sunday, Dec. 19

North Pole Express® lets you experience holiday magic aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Along the way to pick up Santa in a 1920s-era railcar, you and your family can sing carols and enjoy chocolate chip cookies with Mrs. Claus. The train departs from 705 S. Main St., which is right next to Grapevine/Main Street Station on Trinity Metro’s TEXRail. You can get there by taking the Orange Line to DFW Airport, Terminal A; there’s a pedestrian tunnel connecting you to TEXRail’s DFW Airport Terminal B Station. Grapevine is two stops away.
