It’s a great weekend for cinephiles, with two DARTable film festivals going on. Elsewhere, you find foodie events, live music and more. Read on to see where DART can take you this weekend.

Through Sunday, April 27

USA Film Festival showcases feature films, documentaries, and short films. Highlights include a tribute to filmmaker Jon Avnet, along with a screening of his latest, The Last Rodeo, with the film’s stars in attendance, and a 25th anniversary screening of Memento, with actor Stephen Tobolowsky in attendance. It all happens at the Angelika Film Center, just steps from Mockingbird Station on the Red, Blue and Orange lines.


Friday, April 25-Thursday, May 1

Dallas International Film Festival includes more than 120 screenings, Q&As with filmmakers, panels, and red-carpet events. Notable screenings include the world premiere of Happy as Larry, The ConfessionDIY: The Rise and Fall of PunkNight in West TexasA Portrait of a Postman, and Willie Nelson Presents: King of the Roadies. Screenings take place at Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas in Dallas, a short walk from Victory Station, which is served by the Green and Orange lines, as well as the TRE.

 

Friday, April 25-Sunday, April 27

Taste Addison has nearly 50 local restaurants featuring reduced prices, cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and other foodie stuff. There is also live music on seven stages, including headliners Silversun Pickups (Friday), Hoobastank (Saturday), and Wade Bowen (Sunday). It’s all happening at Addison Circle Park, located near Addison Transit Center. The center is served by several DART buses, including routes 22, 200, 202, 227, 229, 235, 236, 237, 238 and 239.

 

Saturday, April 26

Festival of Joy features a parade, dancing, music, and live performances throughout the day. Presented by East Dallas restaurant Kalachandji’s, the event includes a parade, a free vegetarian feast and plenty of vegetarian food from various regions of India. The event happens at Klyde Warren Park, walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley

Family Fit Fest lets you engage in educational and physical activities, plus get exposure to resources and services from over 100 businesses and non-profit organizations. The free event takes place at Dallas Market Hall, walkable from Market Center Station on the Green Line.


Stevie Ray Vaughan Park Annual Blues Fest is a free event featuring tribute band Texas Flood, along with Texas Bluesman. You can get to the park on bus route 9.
