Fans of gaming and horror films are in for a pair of great, DARTable festivals this weekend. Of course, there’s lots of other stuff, too, including theater and even a Neil Diamond impersonator. Read on to see where DART can take you this weekend.


Friday, May 23

El Otro follows a teenaged girl forced to choose between her birth father and the fresh-faced soldier who recently married her mother. The winner gets to live. Catch it through May 31 at the Latino Cultural Center. That’s very near the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station.


Friday, May 23-Saturday, May 24

CityLine Live Music Series presents music under the stars at CityLine Plaza. Listen from one of the restaurant patios on State Street, or pick up dinner and drinks to-go and soak up the live sounds right in the plaza. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome. On Friday night, enjoy the country-rock of Andrea Venezio. On Saturday, Mike Tuck takes the stage with a celebration of ’90s-era country. The plaza is walkable from CityLine/Bush Station on the Red Line.

 

Friday, May 23-Sunday, May 25

Texas Frightmare Weekend is the Southwest’s premier horror convention. There are celebrity appearances, autograph signings, screenings, exclusive parties and horror memorabilia vendors from all over the country. Among the celebrities on hand will be Bruce Campbell, Melissa Barrera, Patricia Arquette, Rosanna Arquette, Linda Blair, and many more. The event also features screenings, panel discussions, and Q&As with up-and-coming Texas filmmakers. It all takes place at Irving Convention Center, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line.

Darkfield is an immersive audio experience presented by the AT&T Performing Arts Center and Realscape Productions. The unique experience feature three environments, each within a shipping container. The pitch-black environments create immersive worlds that blur imagination and reality. Check it out at Sammons Park in the Dallas Arts District – walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

DreamHack is one of Dallas’ largest annual gaming festivals. Meet local indie game developers and artists, watch world-class esports tournaments, talk to hundreds of creators, don your favorite cosplay, and more. It’s all at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, served by Convention Center Station on the Red and Blue lines.

 

Sunday, May 25

America’s Diamond - The Neil Diamond Legacy Concert Tribute stars Neal Diamond impersonator Jay White. He and his band authentically recreate the sound of Diamond classics like “Cherry Cherry,” “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” and more. Experience3 it at the Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.
