City of Carrollton DART Frankford Station Drive-in MovieThere’s a fun weekend in store. For starters, the City of Carrollton and DART are hosting an old-fashioned drive-in movie at sunset on Friday. Drive-In at DART presents The Super Mario Bros. Movie in the parking lot at the Green Line’s North Carrollton/Frankford Station. Park in the lot (it opens at 7 p.m.), tune your radio to the station on the screen, and enjoy the movie. Food vendors will be on site.

There’s a lot more DARTable fun lined up. Check out this weekend’s offerings.

Friday, Aug. 4

Let the Right One In is a modern vampire myth involving two lonely, introverted teens in England. Catch it through Aug. 14 at the Addison Theatre Centre, walkable from the Addison Transit Center – served by DART Bus Routes 22, 200, 202, 227, 229, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, and 305.

The Book of Mormon is a musical following the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the good word. See the international sensation through Aug. 6 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. The venue is just a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

The Fox on the Fairway is reminiscent of a ‘30s-era farce. Complete with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, this madcap adventure runs through Aug. 19 at Cox Playhouse, just across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.

Denton Comic Art ExpositionSaturday, Aug. 5

Denton Comic Art Expo is a family-friendly, all-ages comic convention and art expo that features art vendors, independent comic creators, nerd trivia, panel discussions, and food trucks. Geek out at the Denton Civic Center, walkable from the Downtown Denton transit Center on Denton County transportation Authority’s A-train. Transfer to the A-train at the Green Line’s Trinity Mills Station.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic comes to Irving as part of their Just for the Funk of It tour, in what they’re calling their last ever appearance in the Dallas area. Don’t miss them at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line.

Sunday, Aug. 6

One Night of Queen is a two-hour concert paying tribute to the stage theatrics, showmanship, and music of one of rock’s greatest acts. See it at the Winspear Opera House, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or the M-Line trolley.
